Design

Australian makers are more typically known for their innovative designs including lattice and falcate bracing. I build using a traditional approach.

This is not to say I am not keen to innovate or experiment. There is a great deal of room to experiment within the confines of the traditional Spanish approach and I am also open to explore other designs.

I build my intruments using hand tools. I appreciate many contemporary makers have embraced new technology such as CNC and CAD with great results. This is simply a matter of preference.

Exceptional guitars can be built using a range of different approaches and each maker in their pursuit to find their style will eventually fall toward certain ways of working and certain design features.

For each instrument I offer a range of options. Design features which can be customised include - choice of materials, soundboard bracing, and aesthetics. I’ll work with you to ensure we build an instrument suited to your taste and needs.
